Art conservation and restoration are basically made up of three steps:

1. Preventive conservation to slow down deterioration and keep future damage to a minimum.

2. Curative conservation introduces corrective measures after damage has been done.

3. The restoration process involves the repair of the artwork in order to improve its readability while respecting its history and message.
